Safety
Safety and Community Guidelines
Swapties works best when listings are honest, messages are respectful, and every member uses common sense when arranging a swap.
List honestly
- Only list items you genuinely have and have the right to swap.
- Use clear photos of the actual item.
- Describe condition, faults, missing parts and wear honestly.
- Pause or remove a listing if it is no longer available.
Do not list prohibited items
Swapties is for ordinary swappable personal items. Do not list anything unlawful, dangerous, stolen, counterfeit or unsafe. Examples include:
- Firearms, ammunition, offensive or restricted weapons and blades, explosives or fireworks.
- Controlled or recreational drugs, medicines, tobacco, vapes, nicotine products or alcohol.
- Dangerous chemicals, poisons, unsafe electrical goods or recalled or banned items.
- Stolen or counterfeit goods, illegal wildlife products, live animals or illegal material.
- Adult sexual content, prohibited adult products or services; financial products, identity documents or security credentials.
- Anything you do not have permission to offer.
Safety checks can block a listing or hold it for review. An uncertain toy, replica or collectible may need review; do not hide what it is to get around a check. A listing being allowed is not a safety certificate or proof that every prohibition has been detected.
Message respectfully
- Be clear, polite and realistic when making offers or counters.
- Do not harass, threaten, hate, pressure or manipulate other members.
- Do not spam members or try to move people into scams.
- Never ask for passwords, one-time codes, bank login details or identity documents.
Arranging an exchange
Members choose their own meeting, collection or postage arrangements. Swapties does not physically supervise exchanges, verify items, insure parcels or handle payments.
- Use judgement before meeting or posting anything.
- Check the item and the agreed swap details before handing anything over.
- Avoid sharing unnecessary personal information.
- If something feels wrong, stop, prioritise your safety and document the concern. Use Report or the swap's problem-report controls as appropriate.
In-person swaps
- Agree the exact items, condition and meeting arrangements in the conversation before travelling.
- Choose a well-lit public place where practical, tell someone your plan and consider taking someone with you.
- Inspect the items before handover. Do not give out your home address or other private information unless needed.
- Both members should confirm completion only after the exchange happens. Do not confirm early under pressure.
Swapties does not supervise the meeting or verify the other member's identity.
Postal swaps
- Agree postal exchange on both sides, the exact items, packaging, delivery details and timing before dispatch.
- Check your carrier's restrictions and choose appropriate postage yourself. Swapties does not buy labels or provide parcel insurance.
- Share only the delivery details the other participant needs. Keep packaging and dispatch evidence if a problem arises.
- Record your own dispatch honestly. Confirm receipt only after the other member's items arrive; both receipt confirmations are needed to complete a postal swap.
Carrier and tracking details are member-supplied, not verified proof of delivery or item contents. Posting first carries risk. Swapties does not hold items or money and cannot guarantee recovery or reimbursement for a lost parcel or failed swap.
Reviews and swap problems
Reviews are for completed swaps, with a 14-day submission window. They stay blind until both members review or that window ends. Keep reviews factual; do not threaten a bad review to pressure someone into a different deal.
For a problem with an accepted, incomplete swap, open its conversation, select Current swap, then choose Report a problem on the swap detail page. An open or under-review dispute pauses completion confirmations while admins can review the case. Keep documenting progress honestly; exchange-method agreement and dispatch recording are not a resolution. A resolved dispute does not automatically complete the swap or compensate either participant.
Blocks and reports
Blocking a member helps stop new interaction between you and that member. Reporting sends context to Swapties moderation so it can be reviewed by an approved admin.
Authorised admins can review concerns and use account-enforcement controls. Reports do not automatically punish an account. Reports and support are not an emergency service; if you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Moderation cannot guarantee every issue is prevented or resolved immediately.
To question a moderation decision or ask for help when an in-app action is unavailable, use Contact and Support. Read How Swapties works before your first exchange.
Keep Swapties swap-first
Swapties is built around swapping things, not running a sales marketplace. Do not use it to advertise unrelated services, push outside payments or bypass the product's safety tools.
